Senior Fire Protection Designer (Sprinkler) NICET III Water-Based System Layout

Job Description:
- Review construction contract documents and coordinate with general contractors/owners to gather the required information to design the projects sprinkler system
- Design layout of fire sprinkler and standpipe systems using AutoCAD/HydraCAD programs
- Perform field surveys and identify code issues and solutions
- Attend coordination and job progress meetings
- Create fabrication/stock listing for system components and purchase materials throughout project
- Material equipment submittals
- Hydraulic calculations
- Coordinate with other FVFS departments within office to ensure proper handoff of job information
- Submittals to AHJs/owners/architects/engineers/insurance companies
- Close out procedures/O&M manuals as necessary
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with customer to ensure FVFS meets customer expectations
- Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality
- Ability to be self-motivated and prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines
- Identify changes in project scope that impact cost schedule labor
- Create and submit change orders in a timely manner
- Monitor progress and financial metrics throughout project ensuring compliance with schedule and budgetary guidelines
- Continued communication and cooperation with Fox Valley Fire and Safety staff
- Follow safety rules and good driving habits
- Follow Fox Valley Fire and Safety policies and procedures
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor
Job Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in fire protection field and a demonstrated knowledge of building codes
- Experience with AutoCAD/HydraCAD
- Navis Simulate and/or BIM coordination a plus
- NICET Certification III in Water-Based Systems Layout is required
- Bachelors degree in Engineering strongly desired
- Customer oriented interpersonal skills
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must possess strong organizational skills
- Ability to be self-motivated and demonstrate initiative
- Must be able to exercise effective time management skills (prioritize work on a time line meeting deadlines)
- Ability to read interpret and prepare engineered drawings specifications and schematics
- Technical electronic and mechanical knowledge and abilities
- Ability to work in a TEAM environment with a focus on expanding customer satisfaction department growth and personal / professional growth
- Occasional overtime as needed
Physical Requirements: This job may require occasional site visits.
- Must be able to carry lift push and pull 25-50 pounds
- Must be able to safely climb a ladder and reach a height of at least 12 ft.
- Frequent standing walking sitting repetitive motions and eye/hand/foot coordination
- Occasional lifting carrying balancing stooping kneeling reaching and grasping
