Welder/Maintenance Engineering Indianapolis day shift - onsite

Peerless Pump Company an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos is seeking an experienced Welder to join its Maintenance Engineering group.

What is the job about
This occupation includes all activities required for welding of pump assemblies parts fabrications and is inclusive of repair welding of different metallurgies.
This position reports directly to the Maintenance and Facilities Manager and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis IN facility (primarily Mon-Fri).
Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.
Your main responsibilities:
- Material preparation for weld
- Move material as required.
- Perform layout work
- Perform operations such as drilling tapping fitting filing polishing honing reaming countersinking and adjusting.
- Performs MIG TIG and stick welding as well as use of acetylene torch.
- Performs manual and electronic record keeping such as preventive maintenance
- Provide training and instruction to other employees as required.
- Receive store and retrieve material.
- Perform work promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with our culture and corporate standards (Safety/Environmental Quality Continuous Improvement Communication Internal Controls etc.).
Key Success Factors:
Production order on-time performance and both internal and external customer support are key to achieving company goals. Problem solving skills and interpersonal skills are a must to succeed in this role.
Posting Reporting and Work Relations:
This role will be working closely with Maintenance Manager APU Manager and Tool room team. Will also provide support to Service Team Production Supervisors and shop floor personnel.
Your background
We imagine that you have:
- High School Diploma GED/HSE/HiSET or equivalent *required
- Additional Technical training *much preferred.
- 4 years experience in MIG/GMAW TIG/GTAW and ARC/SMAW welding of various metallurgies.
- Veterans with MOS experience maintaining and repairing sophisticated or precision mechanical systems are strongly encouraged to apply. *much preferred
- Competencies:
- Cranes hoists material handling equipment
- Computer (MS Windows SAP Excel)
- Manual power driven and pneumatic hand tools and machine tools.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and apply mathematics to work from engineering drawings schematics and blueprints.
- Ability to operate precision instruments manual machining equipment and lifting equipment
- Mathematics skills including proficiency subtracting multiplying and dividing for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally in the English language to understand and use written or verbal control and work instructions
- Ability to analyze and problem solve to resolve various technical and interpersonal issues with collaboration respect and professionalism.
- This position requires the incumbent to stand for extended periods of time frequently grasp tools bend stoop twist crouch lift/push/pull reach stand and walk when performing duties.
- Specific vision abilities include close distance and peripheral vision.
- Able to work in a non-climate controlled factory or field environment.
- Demonstrated strong work ethic (including good attendance) strong organizational skills and strong communication skills (written and oral).
Work conditions:
Potential for Noise not temperature controlled potential overtime lifting 40lbs.
