Job Description

Job Title: High School Student Engagement Liaison

Department: Reynolds High School

Classification: IIC

Reports to: Designated High School Assistant Principal

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary: The position of High School Student Engagement Liaison is done for the purpose of providing needed support to the High School staff as assigned to help ensure students are on track for graduation. This includes working in the Reynolds High School attendance management call center making daily calls and providing administrative support serving as a resource for volunteers producing reports; compiling student credit data for Coordinator to review; assisting with the coordination of appropriate interventions; and serving as a liaison to staff parents students and outside community groups as needed to ensure positive student outcomes.

Essential Job Functions:

Essential job functions will include but are not limited to:

  • Working as a member of the school call center staff and acting as a resource for volunteers;
  • Conducting home visits;
  • Assisting with recruiting and training school volunteers;
  • Utilizing technology to produce student attendance reports;
  • Assisting in coordinating interventions events and communicating with multiple agencies and community partners involved with student retention and drop-out prevention;
  • Advocating for parents and students and promoting interest in schooling;
  • Effectively communicating with teachers students staff and parents;
  • Serving as a resource to parents and community members regarding community agencies events and activities;
  • Assessing needs of parents and students;
  • Assisting school staff in the implementation of educational activities and programs including programs offered at the school for parents and other community members;
  • Encouraging parents of bilingual/bicultural students to upgrade their skills and knowledge of the educational process;
  • Helping school staff to coordinate extended day before and after school and intersession programs;
  • Promoting school programs in the community;
  • Facilitating community involvement in school programs and activities;
  • Serving as interpreter during parent-teacher conferences special education meetings disciplinary referrals and other school-based meetings as needed;
  • Maintaining regular and consistent attendance and punctuality;
  • Performing related duties consistent with job description and assignment.

Qualifications:

Experience Required:

Prior experience with the following:

  • Principles and practices of student data reporting
  • Educational programs and community resources
  • Principles and methods of school and community organization

Experience Preferred:

  • Ability to communicate in multiple languages
  • Prior experience working with high school students with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Successful experience working with high school age youth and their families in a school setting

Skills Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:

Skills to: utilize data reporting systems attendance tracking parent and community events; operate standard office equipment including computer telephone printer and copier; effectively use Microsoft Office computer applications including Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint; effectively use Synergy Data Warehouse OAKS on-line; communicate effectively in English orally both in person and by phone and in writing; use correct spelling grammar and punctuation;

Knowledge of: call center functionality how to maintain strong working relationships with local community agencies focused on dropout prevention and successful student outcomes;

Ability to: stand/walk/sit for extended periods of time; create and maintain accurate records understand and carry out both oral and written instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work; understand adolescent development and apply knowledge to managing students.

Significant Physical Abilities include: lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds in weight in a safe manner; pushing/pulling balancing stooping reaching/handling/manual dexterity talking/hearing conversations and other sounds (potential hazards) visual acuity/depth perception/with or without visual accommodation.

Education and Training Required:

High School Diploma or GED required. Associates degree preferred.

Licensing/Special Requirements:

Oregon Fingerprint and Criminal background check clearance

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon drivers license

Other:

Bilingual/Bicultural preferred

Schedule: 8 hours/day based on HS Student Engagement Liaison Calendar prorated on start date for 2025/26 school year.
