Description of Work
If you are looking for a rewarding career please consider the Correctional Associate Warden/Asst Supt II opportunity with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits including health insurance paid vacation paid sick time paid holidays as well as retirement.
This position is located at Dan River Prison Work Farm Blanch NC in Caswell County.
Work assignments include food service maintenance janitorial and other institutional jobs. Other assignments include maintenance work at Caswell Correctional Center and the offender construction program.
Work in this class involves assisting the Warden in the day-to-day management and operation of the facility which provides a vast variety of programs and services to the inmate population.
The major duties of this position are to manage the total custody section including the food service operation and provide for the safety and security of the facility.
This position reviews all incident reports assigns and reviews internal investigations conducts critical internal investigations reviews inmate requests and responds appropriately and assures that the personnel resources are allocated for the maximum benefit of the facility.
This position handles special assignments as assigned by the Warden.
This position will act as the Warden in the absence of the Warden.
Note to Current State Employees: The Salary Grade for this position is NC14. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase/decrease MAY result.
Dan River Prison Work Farm
Dan River is a minimum custody facility that houses felon and misdemeanant adult male offenders. This facility houses and provides services to a maximum of 640 inmates and employs approximately 177 staff.Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Documented supervisory skills in an adult prison facility

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of supervisory administrative or consultative experience in corrections or related work; -OR- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience at or above the Correctional Lieutenant level; -OR- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
