Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Education is seeking a qualified individual to provide highly complex professional analytical and/or technical expertise in the specialty area of digital learning integration. This position functions in a lead worker capacity providing program direction and support to projects assigned to the Division of Teaching & Learning. Responsibilities are multifaceted and involve initiative and independent decision making within a program and/or specialty area and administration of multiple projects and statewide programs with application of broad technical expertise.
Minimum Qualifications
Contract and Program Administration: Proficient in contract administration and evaluation. Knowledgeable about AP Career and Technical Education programs and guidelines.
Policy and Partnerships: Well-versed in state and federal policies. Skilled in forming and maintaining strategic partnerships.
Communication and Collaboration: Effective collaborator in office settings. Strong communicator with technical and nontechnical audiences. Highly skilled in both oral and written communication within a formal organization.
Writing and Documentation: Experienced in writing reports grants briefs and articles. Adept at budgeting and record-keeping.
Professional Development: Proficient in planning and delivering professional development grounded in adult learning theory.
Project Management and Instructional Design: Experienced in managing complex projects and instructional design. Effective in using online and blended learning modalities.
Educational Standards and Technology: Extensive knowledge of state and national education standards policies and agency functions. Proficient in educational technology and software. Up-to-date with trends in education Virginia Standards of Learning and instructional support systems.
Problem Solving and Long-Range Planning: Capable of defining and solving educational problems providing staff development and long-range planning. Effective problem-solver for K-12 computer science issues research methods and managing multiple projects.
Leadership: Recognized as a leader in education.
Additional Considerations
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an undergraduate degree in education technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Classroom teaching experience in virtual learning classrooms and considerable experience in working with students in various settings.
Experience in developing educational programs or services for local school divisions program administration and long-range planning.
Experiences in managing complex assignments and initiatives related to virtual learning curriculum development student assessment project development and program evaluation.
Experiences in organizing and providing professional development with teachers and other adult learners.
Previous experience in educational leadership was preferred.
Postgraduate professional license eligibility preferred.
