Sales Clerk Museum Store (Part-Time)
Are you friendly helpful and passionate about creating memorable guest experiences The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is looking for a customer-focused Sales Clerk to support our Museum Store operations and help connect visitors to meaningful keepsakes inspired by our collection.
Location: Kansas City MO (On-site)
Status: Part-Time
Pay Rate:$15.45/hour
Schedule:
Thursday: 1:00 pm 9:30 pm
Friday: 1:00 pm 9:30 pm
Saturday: 1:00 pm 5:30 pm
Sunday: 1:00 pm 5:30 pm
At the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art we believe art is for everyone. Our retail experience reflects the values of excellence hospitality and cultural connection.
As a Sales Clerk you will provide outstanding customer service and ensure a seamless retail experience from browsing to checkout. Youll also support behind-the-scenes operations including inventory order fulfillment and merchandising.
Key responsibilities include:
Opening and closing the store independently including preparing deposits and maintaining daily records
Processing in-person phone and online orders using our point-of-sale (POS) system
Packaging and shipping merchandise for online and phone orders
Keeping displays well-stocked and visually appealing
Assisting with receiving inventory and processing returns
Staying informed about merchandise and museum exhibitions to help guests make meaningful purchases
Maintaining a clean and welcoming store environment (including occasional light cleaning)
Sharing product knowledge including artist background and product origin
Being aware of current exhibitions and events to direct guests as needed
High school diploma or GED
At least 1 year of retail or customer service experience
Experience using a POS system preferred
A friendly and helpful attitude with a customer-first mindset
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Flexibility organization and reliability
Availability to work evenings weekends and holidays as needed
