JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant Investment Accounting
EMPLOYER: A-CAP Services LLC
DEPARTMENT: Finance
REPORTS TO: Head of Investment accounting
LOCATION: Onsite in Miami FL(Hybrid)

ABOUT THE COMPANY
A-CAP is a rapidly growing organization that owns and operates multiple insurance companies and ancillary insurance businesses and has over $10 billion of total invested assets. This opening is with the holding company which primarily performs asset management actuarial accounting and other oversight functions on behalf of A-CAPs insurers and third-party clients. This group also provides strategic and operational support to A-CAPs portfolio companies/subsidiaries proactively formulates new investment strategies oversees external financing and acquisition activities and provides modeling support for insurer liabilities and capital. On the insurance product side A-CAPs primary lines of business are traditional fixed and equity-indexed annuities with additional business in whole life insurance Medicare supplement and hospital indemnity products. A-CAP insurers originate over $2 billion of new premium annually.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Senior Investment Accountant to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and reporting of investment activities across A-CAPs five insurance entities with a focus on complex investment structures and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in investment accounting a strong understanding of both statutory and GAAP principles and a proactive solution-oriented approach to process improvement and collaboration across teams.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Prepare and review investment schedules for monthly quarterly and annual financial statements including investment footnotes audit schedules and off-quarter filings
  • Oversee monthly journal entries and reconciliations of balance sheet and income statement investment-related accounts
  • Serve as a key contributor to quarterly GAAP financial statements and annual statutory statements (blue books)
  • Support investment components of NAIC Risk-Based Capital (RBC) reporting and ensure compliance with evolving regulatory guidance
  • Support the completion of AM Best Supplemental Rating Questionnaire as it relates to investments
  • Collaborate with the Middle Office and Investment team to ensure timely and accurate trade recording and resolve discrepancies
  • Coordinate with external auditors during interim and year-end audits providing key schedules and analysis
  • Review and validate monthly collateral reports for reinsurance counterparties and other investment-related reporting
  • Identify and implement process improvements efficiencies and automation opportunities within the investment accounting function
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field
  • 7 years of relevant investment accounting experience in life insurance or financial services
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with investment accounting systems is a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles related to investments
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to interpret complex financial instruments
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
  • A proactive mindset with a commitment to accuracy continuous improvement and professional development

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 40 hours weekly or as otherwise arranged with the manager of the department.
