Job Duties:

This position supports the research and outreach missions of the UW Peninsular Ag Research Station by maintaining plant production record keeping and maintenance to ensure operational efficiencies. This position will work collaboratively with station staff and researchers to produce and study various horticultural crops including apples cherries and grapes among addition this person will act as a resource for commercial and noncommercial growers by supporting the commercial pest scouting program and conducting educational outreach for various audiences.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs all necessary snow removal duties in the winter
  • Coordinates the spacing of plants shrubs trees and ground cover to ensure proper growth
  • Serves as a horticultural expert and consultant to internal and external stakeholders
  • Designs and implements pest and disease scouting program of commercial and research fruit plantings
  • Develops coordinates and executes spraying programs for fungicide pesticide and herbicide applications
  • Maintains and evaluates hardscape maintenance
  • Maintains inventory data for assigned area including tagging insect monitoring and planting and moving
  • Coordinates the planting sowing fertilization trimming watering and spraying of assigned areas

Compensation:

The anticipated rate for this position is $19.00 - $22.00 per hour. However final salary will depend on experience and qualifications. Normal hours are 7:30am 4:00pm Monday through Friday. Occasional nights and weekends may be required for this position.
