Job Description
Employee-Owned Premier Countertop Company is looking for a Class A CDL driver for our team for a growing company in Syracuse. Full-time Monday through Friday year-round position with occasional overtime and room for growth!
JOB SUMMARY:
The position requires the candidate to safely operate a 40-ton commercial vehicle to deliver finished and raw materials to customer and Vendors. The driver needs to be physically fit to make deliveries in a challenging location. The driver will be responsible for safe delivery and pick up of products and inventory checks.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Long-distance driving
- Communicating and coordinating with Operations Manager.
- Obeying and following applicable traffic laws
- Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle
- Maintaining a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Ensuring any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving
- Planning and meeting delivery schedules
- Complying with truck driving rules and regulations
- Reporting defects accidents and violations
- Performing daily maintenance of the truck (refueling cleaning etc.)
- Loading and unloading box trucks with forklifts and pallet jacks
- Interacting with customers in a professional manner
- Performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection reports
- Recording cargo deliveries
- Verifying loads for accuracy
CDL DRIVER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Require high school diploma/GED
- Valid Class A drivers license with a clean driving record
- Experienced driving heavy trucks and van
- More than 3 years of proven experience driving a tractor-trailer preferred.
- Must be 21 years of age
- Physically fit enough to lift > 50 pounds
- Great time management skill and communication skills
- Proficient in using GPS and other navigation systems
- Able to drive for an extended period of time
- Must pass a background check and drug screen
