LDWF supports a strong work ethic in its employees and incorporates the use of good science accurate information and technology. The Office of Wildlife exists to provide wise stewardship of Louisianas wildlife and associated habitats and increase wildlife conservation awareness.
This position is an entry level biologist position that receives direct supervision from a biologist supervisor in the Minden field office. Primary tasks involve providing technical assistance to private landowners including site visits and habitat management plans primarily in Caddo Bossier Webster Claiborne DeSoto Red River Bienville Lincoln and Jackson parishes.The official job specifications for this role as defined by the State Civil Service can be found here.
Job Duties:
Provides technical advice concerning financial assistance for landowners including the USDA Farm Bill and USFWS Partners Program.
Performs Wetland Reserve Easement monitoring. Transports injured or nuisance animals. Conducts meetings and answers questions from the public. Works with other state agencies federal agencies and non-government organizations on species management. Investigates and reports black bear incidents. Manages data conducts landowner assistance visits and browse surveys and distributes reports for the Deer Management Assistance Program. Coordinates and performs trapping collecting data from and banding turkey dove and duck utilizing funnel traps rocket nets and nest boxes. Performs dove call quail call and turkey poult surveys. Seasonally works managed deer hunts lottery hunts and waterfowl bag checks. Removes brains stems and lymph nodes as part of Chronic Wasting disease testing. Performs deer and feral hog collections for herd health and breeding data. Coordinates and performs alligator tag enrollment process and inspects alligator hides.

Compensation: The maximum salary for the highest level of this position Biologist 3 is $ $84136.00 annually.
