Job Description

Ground Systems Engineer (Lead or Senior)

Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) is looking for a Lead or Senior Ground Systems Engineer (Level 4 or 5) to join our Space Intelligence and Weapons Systems (SI&WS) Ground and Mission Systems Engineering team in Seal Beach or El Segundo California.

TheSI&WS GMSE division creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with both commercial and proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our teamfocuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment concept development proposal writing requirements design build integration test and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

The Lead or Senior Ground Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) Engineer will join a high-performing team that is immersed in high intensity development projects. As a member of our team you will have the opportunity to work proprietary programs for U.S. government customers who are responsible for exciting advanced technology national security missions.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads system architecture design development integration and test verification and validation certification and operations through modernization efforts.

  • Integrates and tests system design solutions across various Ground test environments and operational facilities.

  • Defines and develops system test requirements regression testing test plans procedures and schedules.

  • Leads and performs system execution analysis and preparation of test results to support verification validation certification and transition.

  • Applies an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to plan design develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.

  • Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical functional and program interfaces.

  • Performs analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.

  • Performs analyses for affordability safety reliability maintainability testability human systems integration survivability vulnerability susceptibility system security regulatory certification product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.

  • Develops maintains and identifies improvements for the planning organization implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes tools risk issues opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.

  • Interfaces with cross-functional teams senior leadership and external customers.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology) Computer Science Data Science Mathematics Physics Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 9 years of experience with Systems Engineering methodologies

  • 5 years of experience leading engineering teams or projects

  • Experience with Ground Systems Engineering

  • Experience in risk management and trade studies

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 14 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience with Ground Systems Maintenance and Modernization

  • Experience with Ground and Space Vehicle communications

  • Experience with development of Command and Control Mission Management and Mission Planning software systems for Ground Systems

  • Experience with virtual Ground station hardware

  • Experience in software coding and troubleshooting

  • Experience with Cost Account Management (EVMS)

  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence

  • Experience working with Government customers

Senior (Level 5) Summary pay range: $157250 - $212750

This position requires an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) U.S. Security Clearance with an adjudicated Counterintelligence or Full Scope Polygraph (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.).
