The Job Coach will support students in a variety of integrated work experience sites both on campus and in the community. The candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills and a willingness to support students in variety of workplace settings. There will be an element of writing and record keeping required to fully support team decisions based on growth and areas of need.
Essential Duties Responsibilities and Expectations include the following:
working with students to identify develop and refine skills needed to be
successful on the job
assessing work environments and job tasks and working with a students
educational team to problem solve and develop strategies for maximum
independence
helping students learn about job descriptions workplace culture and worker
responsibilities particular to their placement
providing students on the job training that will help them develop and maintain
the skills necessary to achieve site specific goals and objectives as well as the
foundation skills necessary for job placement
helping students develop an understanding of themselves in relation to the world of work by helping to identify likes dislikes strengths and weaknesses
reporting on and documenting student performance at the worksite and
collaborating with educational teams to problem solve and strategize solutions for optimal outcomes
completing data sheets on IEP Objectives and working with the vocational team to identify need areas for future goals and objectives
communicating regularly with site supervisors and collaborating with the Job
Developer
willing to follow occasional flexible schedule including evening and weekend
assignments
following and implementing all student specific communication behavioral and medical protocols at on and off campus work settings
To perform the job successfully our job coach should demonstrate the
following competencies:
-Strong oral and written communication skills
-Understanding of the full scope of work experiences including students needs site expectations and individual program goals.
-Experience with data collection
-Excellent problem solving skills
-Knowledge of the unique needs and accommodations for students who are visually impaired deafblind and/or with multiple disabilities.
Education and/or Experience
-High School Diploma
-Two Years experience working with people with disabilities. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience with individuals with visual impairment or Deafblindness.
-Must have valid drivers license and receive car clearance
