Job Description

Overview

Location: Divisional Headquarters Finance Department (Hartford CT)

Status: Non-exempt Full-time

Hours Per Week: 37.5

Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:30 am 4:00 pm

Scope of Position: Process expenses from all Corps and Area Services into the accounting package while adhering to The Salvation Armys accounting policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Apply accounting principles and practices following standardized well-established procedures regulations and guidelines.
  • Institute safeguards to ensure the integrity and maintenance of the accounting system.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial-related materials for audits.
  • Assist in month-end closing procedures.
  • Input financial-related data into computer systems and maintain financial reports and records related to programs.
  • Maintain an unpaid invoice file; input invoices and other delinquent data into the accounts payable module after invoices/data have been reviewed for accuracy and coded to proper accounts and departments within the program.
  • Maintain and oversee maintenance of financial documents (check vouchers payroll etc.).
  • Always maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Record and post expenses into the computer system.
  • Provide coverage for the Accounts Receivable Clerks.

Qualifications

  • An associate degree in accounting or business management or three years of experience is highly preferred.
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office accounting software and databases.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles practices standards laws and regulations.
  • Should be well organized show strong initiative and have adequate follow-through.
  • Valid drivers license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
