About the Role
The ATDM Metrology Lab Technician will play a key role in preparing and supporting a metrology lab for instruction in an accelerated short-term training program. This position is ideal for a driven individual who enjoys hands-on technical work and supporting student learning.
Shift Availability
ATDM Instructors and Technicians are assigned shifts based on training needs. Shift assignments are based on business needs at the time of hiring performance and tenure. These positions require the flexibility to work all shifts as the program needs change. Your salary will include a shift differential based on the class times you are assigned to instruct. First shift classes start at 7:00 a.m. Second shift classes start at 3:00 p.m. Third shift classes start at 11:00 p.m.The current opening will support ATDM classes on third shift.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare the metrology lab for instruction and assist during lab activities.
- Support curriculum development and student learning.
- Monitor and maintain lab materials and supplies.
- Assist with lab setup and teardown.
- Participate in recruitment events as needed.
- Work assignments may include days evenings and weekends.
Work Location
We are looking for staff to work onsite in Danville VA.
The Ideal Candidate
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Dimensional Inspection Career Studies Certificate (or equivalent) and significant related occupational experience.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

- Shop safety
- Technical math
- Blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
- Hand tool and bench inspection
- Calibration
- CMM operation and programming
- Non-destructive testing
- Lean and Six Sigma
- CAD software
- Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Certifications
- ASQ and/or ASNT certifications
- Experience in teaching or industry training
Salary & BenefitsIALR will offer a salary of $57000 - $59000 plus applicable shift differential.
