Job Description
Basic Functions
The apprentice lineman under direct supervision performs new construction and maintenance work on overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines under the direct supervision of qualified foremen and journeymen.
Responsibilities
Apprentice Lineman will work safely in new construction maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead work. Overhead wire set poles and anchors installs transformers lightening arrestors cutouts crossarms insulators switches and switchgear. Will troubleshoot primary and secondary systems replaces cutout fuses and clears faulted circuits and systems. Capable to safely install and remove mechanical jumpers understanding how to obtain a one shot on a re-closer. Must be able to climb different types of structures (wood steel etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so.
Qualifications
- Must have 2 year minimum of recent field experience or Coursework in Powerline trade
- Safety-minded and follow safety regulations
- Valid Drivers License Commercial Drivers License is preferred
- Reliable transportation to travel when necessary
- Willing to submit to pre-employment random and for-cause drug testing
