Other Conditions: Appointment to begin approximately January 2026 pending position clearance and availability of funding.
We seek a scholar in American Politics Indigenous Politics Environmental Politics and/or Media who can contribute upper and lower division undergraduate courses in American Politics Indigenous Politics Environmental Politics and/or Media. These courses serve our department and General Education. Teaching load will consist of three three-credit courses each semester (Fall and Spring) offered at the introductory as well as advanced levels in both the candidates expertise and related courses.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence in a liberal arts environment at a regional state university located in a rural island setting. Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses within the major and General Education
- Offer undergraduate courses in American Politics Indigenous Politics Environmental Politics and/or Media that contribute to our political science program with related courses as needed
- Maintain an active agenda of scholarly research and peer-reviewed publication
- Participate in service work and fulfill other duties assigned by the department chair
- Serve on appropriate department college and university committees
- Contribute to department activities
- Advising of students
Minimum Qualifications
- At time of appointment Ph.D. from an accredited college or university in Political Science Politics or Government.
- Demonstrated research productivity in American Politics Indigenous Politics Environmental Politics and/or Media with at least academic publication (book chapter or peer-reviewed article) in American Politics Indigenous Politics Environmental Politics and/or Media
- Evidence of High-Quality Teaching in American Politics Indigenous Politics Environmental Politics and/or Media
Desirable Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to teach in multiple areas: American Politics Indigenous Politics Environmental Politics and/or Media
- Demonstrated interest in the politics of Hawaii
- Experience teaching and advising in a multicultural setting
