Job Description

Fahrenheit Advisors is assisting our client Applied Environmental in the search for an Environment Compliance and Stormwater Specialist with a passion for effecting change in the built position will provide onsite technical support as part of a dynamic team for a high-profile federal agency located in Arlington VA.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect analyze and report data to ensure compliance with environmental requirements
  • Support stormwater program implementation including municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) permit and Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) requirements
  • Provide technical and environmental regulatory oversight and coordination during the design permitting and construction phases of land-disturbing projects
  • Review design and construction drawings to ensure compliance with permit land development and state and federal requirements
  • Perform onsite inspections: erosion and sediment control stormwater best management practices stormwater outfall screening and RCRA hazardous waste inspections
  • Support regulatory compliance assessments and audits
  • Develop technical briefings reports trainings and memos to communicate status updates and program or permit requirements
  • Assist with the development and synthesis of decision briefs for senior management
  • Provide environmental regulatory compliance and permitting support for multiple facilities in line with local state and federal requirements
  • Conduct or oversee collection of environmental samples including soil water air and waste to support regulatory compliance site investigations and environmental monitoring programs
  • Support the development of compliance related metrics databases permit applications regulatory research and communications with regulatory agencies

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in environmental/ civil engineering environmental science or related field
  • Two to five years of experience in stormwater management environmental compliance environmental permitting or land development
  • Must be a US citizen and eligible to obtain a security clearance
    • Working knowledge of environmental compliance regulations stormwater management (including green infrastructure) erosion and sediment control land development design and environmental consulting
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences
    • Self-motivated adaptive learner in a changing environment and able to prioritize multiple responsibilities
    • Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking and the ability to develop quality client-ready deliverables
    • Strong team player and motivator with the ability to foster cooperation and make decisions with groups of government and consulting team members
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook
    • Experience with advanced Excel functions Excel macros Access or other data management software a plus
    • Certification(s) as a Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector or Stormwater Management Inspector is a plus
    • Experience or training related to RCRA hazardous waste and Virginia air permitting is a plus
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI interactive dashboards and report creation is a plus
    • Active security clearance is a plus
