Job Description

INTERNAL POSTING ONLY

General Position Summary

Under general direction performs weed spraying to prevent damage to county roads.

Essential Functions
The following may not be all inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
Sprays unwanted vegetation on County roads utilizing a computerized chemical injection sprayer.

Performs maintenance on weed control vehicle.

Maintains current Chemical Applicators license by attending continuing education classes.

Completes daily records of location type and application rate of chemicals applied.

Performs duties related to chip sealing paving shouldering and light equipment; such as. Trucks brooms and mowers; plows snow and sands roads.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education Certification & Experience
Experience or training in recognition and eradication of unwanted vegetation; through knowledge of Klamath Countys road system; knowledge of chemicals used in weed control and their application; necessary safety precautions when applying chemicals; knowledge of the proper application equipment and its care.
Valid Oregon Commercial Drivers License
First Aid Certification
CPR Certification
Forklift Training
Chemical Applicators License

Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers clients and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement volume and distance.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this Job the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

While performing the duties of this Job the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Work Schedule
This is a full-time position. The normal work schedule is 8.00 hours per day 5 days per week; exact schedules are assigned by management. It is the attendance standard of the employer that all employees be present and on time each shift they are scheduled to work. Full or partial absence during any scheduled shift arriving late or leaving early for whatever reason may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness injury or other personal emergency.
