Job Description
The Philosophy Department in the College of Arts & Sciences at Syracuse University seeks a part-time instructor of Philosophy to teach one section of PHI 395 Philosophy of Art a 3-credit course during Fall Semester 2025. The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per-credit-rate-history within the hiring department. All positions and offers are subject to funding availability and enrollment. Course Description: Chief aesthetic theories from Plato to present. Application to literature and the fine arts.

Responsibilities
The duties associated with the teaching assignment include: Developing and/or updating a class syllabus. Preparation of lectures. Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours. Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. Submitting completed final grades according to University regulations. Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner. Providing department forms for student evaluations. Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.

Qualifications
ABD or PhD in Philosophy.
