Job Description

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the nations oldest and largest public housing authority with more than 177000 apartments and responsibility for administering a citywide Section 8 leased housing program that serves over 150000 additional tenants. The Associate Inspector responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
1. Manage projects within the Lead Hazard Control Department specifically areas of work related to scheduling executing and getting results for various lead-based paint inspections.
2. Prepare inspection schedules and supervise a moderate-sized inspection staff to ensure that routine inspections are carried out at regular intervals and in conformance with inspection standards.
3. Perform day-to-day project management and notify the Director/Deputy when/if issues arise that require Senior Management intervention.
4. Vendor Inspectors to assure enforcement of HUD and EPA Lead laws Multiple Dwelling Law Housing Maintenance Code and related laws rules and regulations.
5. Provide technical consultation to Inspectors and Vendor Inspectors on difficult and unusual problems related to lead.
6. Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions including reports that require managerial decisions. Make determinations and report recommendations to Director/Deputy.
7. Approve vendor coordination of schedules and/or coordinate scheduling. Coordinate work of various contractors trades agencies and entities to expedite the work and minimize interference with the buildings functioning.
8. Monitor project progress by staff and/or contractors. Identify areas of risk and slippage and report related risk areas and schedule changes to Director/Deputy through generated reports and r regular status meetings.
9. Support Deputy/ Director in documenting maintaining and enforcing policies procedures systems and applications to meet City and Agreement compliance requirements.
10. With Deputy/ Director prepare project updates briefings presentations and materials for internal and external meetings.
11. Coordinate with fellow Abatement Project Managers to ensure smooth interface and project communication between Lead Hazard Control Units.
12. Perform other related tasks and provide support to Senior Management as requested.

Qualifications :

Qualification Requirements
1. Six years of full-time paid experience as an architect engineer construction superintendent mason carpenter plasterer iron worker and/or inspector of construction one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or

2. Four years of experience as described in 1 above at least one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity plus two years of education in an accredited college or technical school in subjects directly related to 1 above or education toward a baccalaureate degree in Engineering Architecture or Engineering Technology; or

3. At least one year of experience as described in 1 above which must have been in a supervisory capacity plus completion of an approved five year apprenticeship program in housing construction inspection; or

4. Completion of three years of apprenticeship in housing construction inspection plus either three years experience as described in 1 above one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity or one year of experience as described
in 1 above which must have been in a supervisory capacity and two years of education as described in 2 above; or

5. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 2 3 or 4 above. All candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
