Plumber (12 Month)
Date: July 1 2016
Reports to: Director of Maintenance
Supervises: N/A
Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Valid Drivers License with Good Driving Record
Master Plumber or Contractors License
Job Goal: Assumes primary responsibility for the safe condition of pipes
drains and plumbing fixtures in the facilities owned or operated by
the district.
Employment Terms: 12 Months 8 hours per day
7:30 A.M. 4:30 P.M. exclusive of a lunch
Occasionally special arrangements may be made with the
supervisor if the situation warrants. Supervisor approval is required
if the contract day varies.
FLSA Classification: Nonexempt
Evaluation: Annually by Director of Maintenance

Regular Requirements: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects tools or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee frequently must squat stoop or kneel reach above the head and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climbs on to ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.
Occasional Requirements: The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as a toolbox and equipment. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 lbs. such as piping and valves. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables scaffolds and air compressors or other various items. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works indoors and will occasionally work outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products degreasers and sprays
and non-household dust. The employee may come in contact with blood and other infectious materials. The employee will occasionally work in unsanitary conditions such as sewers. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. Frequently the employee will work alone and occasionally will work irregular or extended hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally will work in a loud area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructs custodians and maintenance workers on proper methods of procedures and proper use of tools in plumbing repair work as needed.
Examines district-owned facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventive maintenance.
Accurately estimates project costs orders and accounts for material and labor relative to assignments.
Maintains all safety and code requirements of the State local and Board of Education guidelines.
Performs general maintenance work inside and outside the physical plant such as ceiling roof electrical plumbing concrete masonry glazing insulation tile and pump and fan repairs.
Performs district wide grounds maintenance work such as plowing salting field marking and maintenance of underground sprinkling systems.
Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase and maintains the inventory of district-owned hand tools equipment hardware materials and supplies.
May be required to be on 24-hour call.
To ensure continuity of services remote work may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employees eligibility for remote work will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for remote work will be distributed by the employees supervisor based on his/her role and responsibilities.
Performs all other tasks as supervisor may assign.
