Job Description
The Philosophy Department in the College of Arts & Sciences at Syracuse University is seeking a part-time instructor of Philosophy to teach two sections of PHI 245 Philosophy of Sport a 3 credit course during Fall 2025 semester. The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per-credit-rate-history within the hiring department. All positions and offers are subject to funding availability and enrollment. Course Description: Philosophical and ethical issues arising from sport such as the nature of sport the contribution of sport to well-being sportsmanship and cheating performance-enhancing drugs genetic enhancement violence exploitation gender and disability. Responsibilities
The duties associated with the teaching assignment include: Developing and/or updating a class syllabus. Preparation of lectures. Maintaining regular contact with students. Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. Submitting completed final grades according to University regulations. Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner. Providing department forms for student evaluations. Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
Qualifications
ABD or Ph.D. in Philosophy
