Job Description
The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse University is looking for an individual(s) to teach one/multiple sections of VIS 207 Intro to Graphic Design during the Fall 2025 Semester. (3 credits). Available sections will meet: Mondays/Wednesdays 8:00am9:20am (M012) OR Mondays/Wednesdays 3:45pm5:05pm (M010) OR Tuesdays/Thursdays 3:30pm4:50pm (M006) Course Description: A beginning level graphic design class that teaches underlying principles of visual communications and the fundamental strategies tools and practices of graphic design; emphasizes visual problem-solving including conceptualization typography layout image editing and production of print and digital communications. Applicants should have substantial design experience in news publication or advertising design.

Responsibilities
It is understood that teaching assignments may include the following: Developing and/or updating a class syllabus. Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date. Preparation of lectures projects or other student assignments. Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours. Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class. Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations. Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner. Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree required. Masters degree preferred.
