Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop and maintain an advanced level of expertise in the detail design practices of SEL protection and automation systems.
2. Develop and maintain an advanced level of knowledge of SEL equipment and solutions to electric power system protection and automation applications.
3. Complete assigned work within agreed upon schedule and budget to a high level of quality.
4. Train and assist customers with the installation commissioning and operation of automation and/or protection systems both on-site and from SEL offices.
5. Work in a safe healthful and environmentally sound manner report accidents and unsafe conditions promptly and perform ergonomic exercises to reduce likelihood of injuries.
6. Provide support for other SEL marketing sales application engineering and development activities.
7. Understand. Create. Simplify.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Associates degree in electronic technology or equivalent experience/military school training
6 plus years of experience with electrical power systems or industrial automation system practices
Good knowledge of system protection integration and automation applications
Working knowledge of electric power systems and protective relay applications
Excellent technical training
Ability to learn concepts and technical details of products
Ability to work independently accepting ownership of assigned responsibilities
Willing to travel as needed
Strong writing documentation and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with electric power transmission distribution and/or generation systems
Experience being a part of project teams
*Disciplines include Automation Protection System Design & Relay Technician.
