Job Description

Job Title: la Carte Chef
Department: Kitchen / Culinary
Reports To: Sous Chef / Head Chef / Executive Chef
Location: Restaurant Hotel Resort Cruise Ship etc.
Salary Range: Varies by location and experience generally mid- to high-tier for chefs.

Job Summary:

An la Carte Chef is responsible for preparing and cooking dishes ordered individually from a menu rather than in bulk. They ensure that each dish is made to order paying close attention to presentation portion size taste and guest preferences. Precision speed and creativity are essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook la carte dishes as per the restaurant s menu and standards.
Ensure all food is prepared fresh and meets high quality and presentation standards.
Maintain efficiency during service ensuring minimal wait times without compromising quality.
Customize dishes based on guest requests or dietary restrictions.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the la carte section of the kitchen.
Collaborate with the Sous Chef and Head Chef on menu planning and seasonal dishes.
Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering and stock rotation.
Ensure compliance with food safety hygiene and health regulations.
Train and guide junior kitchen staff or commis chefs working in the la carte section.

Strong culinary skills in la carte cooking and presentation.
Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
Attention to detail and high standards for taste and presentation.
Knowledge of kitchen equipment and modern cooking techniques.
