Cook Grade 2 27729 - 28521 pro rata

Permanent Contract: 10 hrs per week (working hours Friday 2pm-6pm and Saturday 12-6pm)

Calleydown Short Break Care Home in New Addington CR0 0EP

Calleydown is a residential short break care home for Children with Severe Learning Disabilities aged 5 to 18 years. Some of the children have associated physical disabilities and total care needs and some have challenging behaviour.

Calleydown forms part of Croydons Services for Children with Disabilities Team and is located in New Addington.

We are looking to recruit a cook for children in the home to join our team.

You will need to have and an understanding of the additional needs the children have and would be willing to work within the guidelines set in the home to maintain the childrens safety.

The key responsibilities of a cook are to cook as per the menu for each day clean the kitchen after use order food and plan the menu in line with the needs of the children. Ensuring cleanliness and health and safety within the kitchen is a priority.

You will be part of a team providing care to children and promoting positive outcomes. Your role will not require you to work directly with children but will require you to have a level of understand and respect for their individual needs.

You will have direct supervision of a shift manager and will need to be a good communicator. You will need to demonstrate the ability to adapt to situations and have flexible approach.

Additional skills required will be to report any maintenance issues in the kitchen and work as part of the team to ensure issues are reported and repaired by agreed contractors.

The post requires you to work 10 hours a week flexibly including working hours at the weekend. Also to cover for one another when either of our two cooks are sick or on leave.

Candidates will need to have an enhanced DBS and a basic level of computer skills.
