The Peer Mentor Fellow is a distinguished leader within OAOAs CSTEP & CSTEM programs. The role is intended for experienced Peer Mentors who have demonstrated excellence in student support community-building and professional growth. This position is a student employment position with up to 10 hours each week from August 2025 through May 2026. The Fellow reports directly to the CSTEP Coordinator. The Fellow will mentor other OAOA Peer Mentors serve as a partner to OAOA professional staff and co-chair the CSTEP Advisory Committee with the CSTEP Coordinator. The Fellow plays a key role in shaping peer mentoring practices fostering community and representing the student voice within OAOA initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide guidance mentorship and support to current Peer Mentors modeling professionalism and best practices for community building.
Co-chair the CSTEP Advisory Committee.
Assist with onboarding training and supporting new Peer Mentors.
Collaborate with CSTEP Coordinator to co-lead Peer Mentor meetings and shape professional development opportunities.
Continue to provide one-on-one support to mentees and other OAOA students.
Contribute to program assessment by helping to design implement and evaluate results of student surveys and other feedback.
Maintain student privacy and uphold OAOAs mission and values.
Represent OAOA and CSTEP at campus events and meetings.
Offer evening and weekend hours (schedules will vary) to allow OAOA students access to program spaces outside of normal business hours.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Must be a returning Peer Mentor with experience as a CSTEP or other OAOA Peer Mentor.
Strong familiarity with the mission and services of the Office of Access Opportunity & Achievement CSTEP and CSTEM.
Demonstrated leadership initiative and responsibility.
Ability to balance peer relationships with increased professional responsibilities.
Excellent communication organization and time-management skills.
