The House Coordinator is responsible for promoting and maintaining quality patient care by effectively managing the activities of the total patient care services during their assigned the absence of the Administrator and/or designee the House Supervisor has the authority and responsibility for administrative decisions and appropriate notification of the Administrator-On-Call. Obtains daily staffing information from the patient care units. Coordinates staffing on a projected and shift-by-shift basis. Assigns staff following union contracts to cover daily vacancies caused by sick leave staff emergencies vacant shifts etc. Sets the team from the roster according to the call-in process or utilize the float pool if available. Initiates and follows Disaster Preparedness and chain of command for internal/external issues and advises unit directors of any problems with their department concerning staff and or staffing.
Responsibilities
Rounds on all patient care units to ascertain the condition of patients evaluate staffing needs and provide support to caregivers; May be accomplished in person or via phone.
Informs incoming coordinator on ensuing shift regarding the condition of patients follow-up actions required and any special requirements; Reviews Donor Log activity and documentation.
Promotes patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
Administers the effective distribution and utilization of personnel employed during the respective shift
Follows Pharmacy protocols for obtaining drugs when the Pharmacist is unavailable
Knows and follows union contract for staffing requirements
Calls in nursing staff when additional staffing is needed follow call rosters and documents changes
Calls off nursing staff when over-scheduled and documents appropriately
Bases staffing levels on patient acuity per hospital policy
Demonstrates professional courteous phone manners
Keeps the Nurse Executive their representative and/or the Administrator informed regarding circumstances or situations which have or may have a serious impact; Follows chain of command
Assumes the duties as outlined in the Emergency Preparedness Manual

Required Skills/Abilities
Required to maintain current BLS ACLS PALS; Completes annual educational requirements on time
Basic computer knowledge.
Skills and knowledge to sustain and evaluate competence in the care of the age and type of patient populations served
Possesses good oral and written communication skills
Demonstrates interpersonal relationships in a manner that enhances communication promotes conflict resolution reflects leadership capabilities and facilitates staff development
Additional languages preferred
Demonstrates professional conduct at all times.
Exemplifies a high level of adherence to company policies and procedures that are relevant to the position.
Education & Experience
Graduate of an accredited nursing school and holds current licensure in the state as a registered professional nurse; RN license required.
Critical care experienced is preferred
Experience in cardiac monitoring is preferred
Two years of experience in staffing bed control problem intervention Rapid Response Code and Disaster Response experience and NIHSS stroke intervention.
