Job Description

Overview

i3 has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer Intern to support the Naval Research Laboratory Tactical Electronic Warfare mission is to protect the warfighter from emerging threats by advancing electronic warfare (EW) through RDT&E of current and future technologies. This position is for the Fall 2025 internship.

Responsibilities

  • Contributing team members in the research design development test and analysis of EW subsystems specifically electronic support measures (ESM).
  • Design and develop hardware software and firmware.
  • Develop and implement algorithms for use in ESM applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Current student status at an ABET-accredited university working towards a degree in electrical engineering computer engineering physics or related field.
  • Proficient in a computer programming language (e.g. C/C Python etc.).
  • Experience and/or classwork designing and testing electronic and digital circuits.
  • Experience debugging software.
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing.
  • Experience with MATLAB in simulation and data analysis.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Desired:

  • Knowledge of radar and communication systems.
  • Experience with electronic test equipment.

Security Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday however additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required
