Job Summary

Outpatient Adult Speech-Language Pathologist Neurologic Specialization - MGH Main Campus

We are seeking an innovative adaptable and thoughtful SLP to join our outpatient team. The successful candidate will conduct diagnostic assessments develop patient-centered treatment goals and provide rehabilitative treatment to adults with a variety of acquired neurological conditions. The clinical caseload for this role will include a wide spectrum of neurologic motor speech cognitive-linguistic and swallowing disorders often with high medical and biopsychosocial complexity. This SLP will not perform Video Swallow studies or FEES but will be working closely with a team dedicated to performing diagnostics to establish and execute treatment plans. The SLP will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including the MGH Functional Neurological Disorder Unit and participate in related clinical and research initiatives.

Prior professional experience with adults in a medical setting particularly with neurological disorders is strongly preferred. The individual must demonstrate a commitment to evidence-based practice advanced critical thinking and compassion for the patients we serve. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential given the nature of the work which involves multiple disciplines and close collaboration.

This is a 40-hour/week position located in our Boston clinic with both in-person and telepractice patient care delivery components.

Required:
Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology
Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA)
Current Massachusetts Speech Language Pathologist license
A strong understanding of neuroanatomy neurophysiology and evidence-based neurorehabilitation strategies
At least 1 year of relevant clinical experience working with a neurologic patient population
Strong spoken and written communication skills

Preferred:
Experience working within and across interprofessional teams
Demonstrable integration of trauma-informed care principles in clinical practice
Experience and/or interest in the assessment and treatment of Functional Neurological Disorder

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with diagnostic assessments for speech-language.
- Employee must have strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to incorporate new clinical procedures sufficiently to perform clinical services independently.
- Ability to perform functions associated with contemporary audiology and speech-language pathology scope of practice.
- Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
- Knowledge of state standards federal and state regulations.
