Job Description

Job Title: Fundraising Intern
Department: Florida Chapter
Location: Hybrid in Florida
Duration: 11-20 hours per week for 6 months; October 1- March 30

Context: At the Sierra Club we believe in the power of interdependence. Sierra Club has close to 800 staff across the country and a network of 64 local chapters that are led and fueled by thousands of volunteers. Scope: The Sierra Club Florida Chapter is made up of volunteer leaders and civic activists representing over 32000 members. Our mission is to enjoy explore and protect the natural and threatened places in Florida to teach others to understand and respect the fragile environment in which we live and to support equal environmental justice for all. The intern will work with the Florida Chapter Development Director and learn about stakeholder outreach and fundraising.

Job activities include but are not limited to:

    • Assist the Chapter Development Director with administrative and database tasks including maintaining donor records in Salesforce and preparing fundraising reports and summaries.
    • Conduct research on current and potential donors and foundations.
    • Analyze donor trends and campaign results to identify new prospects.
    • Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and fundraising events (may require traveling).
    • Draft and/or edit donor correspondence including thank you letters newsletters and campaign updates as well as email appeals and social media content. Creating handwritten letters to donors.
    • Other tasks as assigned.

The successful candidate must have the following skills and experience:

    • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience or a strong interest in writing environmental justice and grassroots environmental action.
    • Proficiency in Google Suite or Microsoft Word and video conferencing. Experience with Salesforce is a plus.
    • Good time-management skills
    • Committed to self-evolution. You are committed to continuously deepening and evolving your own understanding of systems of oppression through study openness and humility. And you easily recognize your own relationship to privilege and power examining and shifting your behaviors as appropriate.
    • Uplifting and additive. You see mistakes as opportunities for growth; problems as catalysts for solutions and inspire others along the journey. You carry a constructive approach can-do attitude a sense of humor and authentic kindness wherever you go

    • Intern must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid drivers license. This is a hybrid work position including some virtual (work-from-home) and some in-person meetings and campaign activities. Some evening and/or weekend hours should be expected. Intern must have their own vehicle for regional travel.
$18 - $18 an hour
Compensation
The pay rate for this position is $18 per hour.

This is a category 99 non-exempt non-represented temporary position.
