The Department of Psychiatry Yale School of Medicine is recruiting a psychiatrist for an appointment at the Associate/Assistant Professor level for a position as a Consulting Forensic Psychiatrist at the Whiting Forensic Hospital in Middletown CT.
The successful candidate will provide independent forensic based consultation to the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) reporting to supervisors within the Yale Department of Psychiatry.
The Principal Responsibilities of the position include preparing written reports on complex clinical matters and directly answering questions providing case conferences to mental health professionals regarding safe management of patients under their care providing expert witness testimony to state courts and the Psychiatric Security Review Board and participating in forensic evaluations such as competency to stand trial examinations through addition the position requires attendance and participation in all required meetings engaging in the teaching and supervision of Yale Psychiatry Residents and Yale Forensic Fellows and meeting with clinical teams to address risk concerns regarding their patients.
Candidates must be legally employable and have a minimum of 3 years experience in forensic psychiatry with expertise in risk assessment/management. The primary clinical work assignment will be the CT DMHAS.
