IT (Information Technology) Business Management is one of five job families within Information Technology. Roles within this job family have a breadth of assignments ranging from supporting a delivery team to providing strategic guidance. All are encouraged to broaden their technical skills and knowledge base to increase their value and versatility. They will also build their contextual knowledge of Chevrons business. Employees are expected to have knowledge and skills to operate within Agile methodologies and frameworks execute management processes including product management supplier management business relationship management and financial management in support of delivering business value through effective Information Technology within Chevron.

The Scrum Master facilitates and champions the agile delivery system by coaching and mentoring development teams identifying and eliminating impediments optimizing flow through continuous improvement and promoting the use of established standards and novel practices.

Scrum Master is a servant leader of the team and coaches the team on self-organization.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate and champion the agile methodology by coaching and mentoring development teams and promoting the use of standards and best practices.
  • Coach the team to improve collaboration and self-management promoting healthy interactions both within the team and with external stakeholders.
  • Facilitates the identification and removal of impediments to the teams progress and focuses on eliminating waste and delays.
  • As a servant leader promotes adoption of an agile mindset through teaching mentoring and coaching.
  • Ensures the team is utilizing Scrum/SAFe ceremonies effectively to maximize value delivery and facilitates Scrum ceremonies.
  • Represent the team at broader planning and coordination sessions (e.g. Scrum of Scrums).
  • Actively participate in learning opportunities such as guilds communities of practice or conferences to improve skills and better support the team.
  • Contribute to the advancement and improvement of agile practices within the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in bachelors or masters degree program in Computer Science Computer Engineering Management Information Systems Business Administration Engineering or related fields or equivalent experience
  • Must provide a current unofficial transcript with online resume (as proof of good academic standing) when applying for this position to be considered.

Preferred skills / competencies

  • Strong communication analytical problem-solving facilitation and influencing skills
  • Experience with Microsoft software applications (e.g. Word Excel PowerPoint)
  • Basic knowledge of agile practices frameworks and techniques
  • Cursory knowledge of tools (e.g. Power BI for data visualization; Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO) for Agile planning tracking and development)
