Position: Energy Auditor
Program and Location: Housing Kearney
Position Summary: The Energy Auditor conducts thorough inspections of income-eligible households and provides on-site supervision of staff.
Responsibilities:
- Awareness and execution of all procedures and standards required by funding sources to date as well as updated requirements as implemented.
- Inspection of income-eligible customer homes to gather information for the National Energy Audit (NEAT) in compliance with the US Department of Energy (DOE) the Nebraska Department of Water Environment and Energy (DWEE) and the Mid Weatherization Assistance Program guidelines and specifications.
- Maintenance and safekeeping of all Agency equipment and tools.
- Maintain a high level of communication and coordination with the Weatherization Director and other Agency staff and contractors.
- Completion of all required paperwork for each client file as well as appropriate paperwork for crew and/or contractors.
Tasks and Duties:
- Conduct through inspections of income-eligible households to identify weatherization measures needed as required by all funding sources.
- Obtain clients signature on all forms and documents required by DWEE and Mid.
- Complete required file paperwork the NEAT and prepare the Work Order for crew or contractors.
- Be knowledgeable of all DOE DWEE Mid and OSHA rules regulations and guidelines.
- Perform weatherization measures when required.
- Provide on-site supervision of weatherization crews and contractors as needed.
- Upon completion of the weatherization measures by the contractor or crew complete all required file paperwork and submit file to Weatherization Director or Quality Control Inspector.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Weatherization Director or other agency designee.
Employment Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 19 years of age.
- If bilingual must be fluent in English.
- Must possess and maintain a valid NE drivers license and have a good driving record.
- Previous experience in basic carpentry preferred but not required.
- General knowledge of construction/carpentry terms and procedures.
- Basic computer knowledge including Word and Excel.
- Ability to lift weights up to fifty pounds.
- Ability to crawl stoop stand and bend to perform required home inspections.
- Ability to work in varying conditions with exposure to any or all of the following either indoors or outdoors: heat cold dust dirt heights and confined spaces.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other program staff and customers as well as the general public and other Agency personnel.
- Must have the ability to work independently.
- Willing to work above and beyond the normal eight hour working day (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) when necessary to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Agency.
- Willing to travel extensively within the Agencys multi-county area and to attend training conferences and/or meetings held out of the area.
- Must keep all agency matters confidential.

Schedule/Hours: 40 hour work week (10-hour workdays Monday through Thursday with Fridays off.)
Pay: Starting pay is $24.00 per hour. With benefits pay is $30.72
