JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Automotive Lab Technician Assistant will assist the Automotive Lab Technician and instructors with repairing brakes and steering systems components. Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems. Replace or repair transmissions and fuel components as needed. Repair cooling components and systems including air conditioners and engine cooling. Perform emissions inspections safety checks and similar state-regulated vehicle examinations. Maintain a clean safe working environment. Produce legible and accurate paperwork reflecting work performed. Possess a valid state drivers license for conducting test drives.
Required Skills Knowledge and Abilities:
Perform basic auto care and maintenance tasks such as oil changes fluid level checks and tire rotation.
Perform routine maintenance and general mechanic work on vehicles.
Identify problems with vehicles using the diagnostic equipment.
Explain automotive repairs and issues and provide help to student.
Help plan repair procedures using charts manuals and OEM factory websites such as Alldata Shopkeypro and Identifix.
Test the functionality of parts and systems.
Assist with inventory orders and updates of equipment as needed.
Willingness to learn with hands-on training.
Help keep repair shop clean and organized.
Keep a professional appearance.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Trustworthiness dependability and a positive attitude are a must.
Confidentiality is necessary due to the sensitive nature of data handled.
Length of Employment: Renewable
Evaluation Procedures and Schedules: Once a semester or more as needed.
Rate of pay: $15.00 an hour.
