Job Summary
Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) clinician:
collaboratively to address the behavioral health needs of patients of all ages being seen in the adult and family medical departments.
in the Behavioral Health Department but working primarily with the medical department and patient care teams.
clinic work includes conducting psychosocial assessments crisis interventions evaluation education and care management of the patient.
a limited number of patients the Integrated Behavioral Health clinician will focus on behavioral health treatment in time-limited therapy. Patients needing a higher level of care will be assisted with referrals and connection to our behavioral health department and/or community-based care.
closely with medical and behavioral health providers in providing consultation and support in understanding the behavioral health needs of the patients and collaborate on patients treatment goals.
behavioral change educational and support groups for patients to address high-risk behaviors and behavioral health concerns and to assist patients in the development of strategies for health improvement.
in regular all-staff departmental (both administrative and clinical) and educational meetings. Attends meetings convened by other departments and as appropriate represents the behavioral health perspectives and recommended interventions.
administrative and documentation responsibilities including documenting in the electronic medical record managed care authorizations and relevant reports.

About Brookside Community Health Center:
Brookside is a licensed Community Health Center of Brigham and Womens Hospital and provides multi-disciplinary comprehensive care with services in a range of medical areas including Adult Family and Pediatric Primary Care OB/GYN Family Planning Dental/Oral Surgery Nutrition/WIC Behavioral Health and Specialty Medicine (Cardiology Pulmonology and Nephrology).
Brookside also has phlebotomy financial counseling and community resource specialists onsite. Each year more than 12000 patients from Jamaica Plain the city of Boston and surrounding areas use these services producing more than 69000 visits to Brookside each year.
Most of Brooksides patient population are Spanish-speaking and socioeconomically under-resourced. The health centers services guided by equity are provided by a bilingual English/Spanish medical and professional staff.
Brookside is a teaching site for Harvard Medical School Mass General Institute of Health Professionals School of Nursing Harvard Dental School Boston University Dental School as well as other Boston area health care professional programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master of Social Work Degree (MSW) or Master of Counseling/Psychology/Related field from an accredited program from an accredited program required.
Licensure: Require current Massachusetts Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or current Massachusetts Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or must obtain MA Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) within 4 months of hire date.
Language: Native or near-native fluency in Spanish required.
For LCSW hires as a condition of continued employment it is a requirement to receive the MA LCSW licensure within four months of start date. And upon attaining the MA LCSW it will be required to obtain LICSW licensure within 12 months of eligibility to sit for the LICSW exam. Not obtaining the LCSW or the LICSW in the required timeframes may result in termination. The social worker may apply for other vacant positions for which they are currently qualified and will be considered for rehire with completed licensure. SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Demonstrated flexibility autonomy and capacity for necessary decision-making.
Extensive knowledge of current social work theory and to conceptualize interpret and discriminately apply theory to practice.
Good clinical skills in assessment crisis intervention and evidence-based behavioral health treatment.
Ability to make appropriate decisions under pressure to exercise good judgment and to take initiative and to meet established productivity standards.
Sensitivity to a variety of cultures beliefs sexual orientation and lifestyle.
Evidence of excellent patient interaction and staff collaboration skills.
Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing. Good planning and organizational skills.
Highly developed interpersonal skills to interact effectively with multidisciplinary team members both at the health center and with the larger community resources and to interact with patients and their families.
