Job Summary:
This role is for a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) specializing in pediatric and neonatal critical care. The RRT will provide respiratory care to patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Pediatric Emergency Department (PEDS ED) and Pediatric Medical-Surgical (PEDS MS) units. Responsibilities include airway management medication administration ventilator management and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. A minimum of five years of experience and specific skills in pediatric and neonatal respiratory care are required.

Responsibilities:
- Providing respiratory care to pediatric and neonatal patients in various units (NICU PICU PEDS ED PEDS MS).
- Performing airway management procedures (intubation extubation suctioning).
- Administering respiratory medications (e.g. Albuterol Atrovent Flovent Nitric Oxide).
- Managing ventilators (BiPAP CPAP high-frequency oscillators).
- Interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs).
- Performing chest physiotherapy.
- Collecting sputum specimens.
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
- Patient transport (inter-departmental and ambulance transport if applicable).
- Assisting in high-risk deliveries (if applicable).
- Performing neonatal transports (if applicable).
- Maintaining and cleaning respiratory equipment.
- Charting and documenting patient care.
- Participating in unit orientation for new staff.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- Experience in NICU and PICU settings is required. Experience in PEDS ED and PEDS MS is preferred.
- Proficiency in airway management devices and suctioning techniques (endotracheal tube nasal airway etc.).
- Skill in administering various respiratory medications.
- Expertise in ventilator management and troubleshooting.
- Ability to interpret ABGs.
- Competency in neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures (e.g. bubble CPAP high-flow nasal cannula).
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist license in the state of employment.
- BLS NRP PALS RRT certifications.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with direct intubation (neonatal and pediatric).
- Experience with various types of ventilators (Servo-I Servo-N HOFV-3100).
- Experience with specific equipment (Alaris IV pumps Airvo heated HFNC etc.).
- Knowledge of basic EKG interpretation.
- Skill in drawing arterial blood gases.
- Experience with patient transport (inter-departmental and ambulance).
Special Considerations:
- RTO (Return to Office) after booking is not allowed.
- No block scheduling is allowed.
- Call may be required depending on workload.
- Floating between PEDS units and floors is required.
- Weekend work is required (every third weekend).
- Approximately 50-60% of daily cases involve NICU and PICU patients.
- 36 hours of unit orientation is required.
- Black scrubs are required (not provided).
Scheduling:
- 36-hour work week (3x12s or 4x12s).
- 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15).
- Shift assignments are determined per unit needs.
- 13-week assignments are accepted.
