Job Description
The Tennessee Department of Healths Division of Family Health and Wellness (FHW) is seeking a highly motivated qualified individual to fill a Public Health Educator 3 contract position. The Public Health Educator 3 position is housed within the Tobacco Use Prevention & Control Program. This contract position will work closely with program and evaluation staff to implement evidence-based strategies designed to address the tobacco use and prevention among youth and young adults.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement evidence-based programs/initiatives to address tobacco prevention among youth and young adults.
- Assist and support the expansion of TNSTRONG youth programs and provide technical assistance to those that promote the TNSTRONG initiatives.
- Works directly with the public to facilitate programs provide community education and disseminate health-related materials.
- Prepare and distribute program materials to internal and external stakeholders that conduct tobacco prevention programs.
- Work with tobacco team to plan and implement youth engagement trainings for tobacco prevention.
- Participate in regular trainings workshops conferences and meetings related to tobacco prevention and control and the FHW division.
- Develop and maintain cooperative collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve program goals and objectives.
- Updates and uses relevant knowledge to support the implementation of health education interventions and programs for the community.
- Identifies the educational needs of others supports program staff in the development of educational training programs or classes and teaches and instructs others.
- Assists with the design and delivery of relevant training programs for health department employees teachers and other professionals.
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in health education biology or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in public health education or related field
- Able to complete and prioritize tasks while working remotely.
Additional Information:
- In-person attendance for quarterly meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Travel to Nashville office will not be reimbursed however travel for site visits will be reimbursed by the state.
- This hybrid position has in-person attendance expected for the first day of employment for laptop deployment and onboarding in Nashville TN.
- Candidates must be a resident of TN.
- In-person attendance for quarterly meetings and professional development opportunities.
