Job Description
Job Title: Mammography Technologist
Location: ATAMMC 9300 Dewitt Loop Fort Belvoir VA 22060
Work Schedule: Monday Friday; may include limited after-hours/weekend coverage Qualifications:
- Education: Must maintain 15 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) per 3-year period and complete at least 200 mammography exams every 2 years to meet the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA).
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in mammography within the last 2 years in a hospital or clinical setting. Must demonstrate proficiency in screening and diagnostic mammography procedures.
- License/Certification: ARRT (R) and (M) Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in both Radiologic Technology and Mammography. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine screening and diagnostic mammograms including magnification compression and spot views.
- Support mammography-guided needle biopsies and other image-guided procedures as needed.
- Maintain high-quality imaging standards per MQSA and FDA guidelines; perform daily QA checks.
- Set up and operate mammography machines prepare sterile supplies and report equipment issues promptly.
- Accurately record patient data and upload images into MHS Genesis and PACS.
- Explain procedures clearly provide reassurance and ensure patient comfort and privacy throughout the exam.
- Work closely with radiologists nurses and admin staff to support smooth patient care and workflow.
- Participate in audits compliance checks and continuing education to maintain professional standards.
