Job Description

Overview

The Salvation Armys Ray & Joan Kroc Community Center is hiring a Social Ministries Manager and offers excellent benefit package to eligible employees including:

Location: 650 Dudley Street Dorchester MA

Hours: 40 hrs/week Exempt

Pay Rate: up to $65000 per year

The Social Ministries Manager is responsible for the development and administration of all social ministries programs which provide a continuum of care for adults children and families within the community. Will oversee and direct social service programs/ministries including but not limited to: new program development case management staff/volunteer and program supervision collaboration with other community social service providers and the monitoring of program outcomes procedures and budget.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in social work required
  • Masters degree in social work (MSW) preferred

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in social work or the social services field
  • Direct Care in a Human Service setting as well as supervisory/management experience
  • Knowledge of Social Service field/Community Resources

  • Ability to develop budgets reports and to maintain and monitor statistical data and fiscal records related to social services.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability related to the principles and delivery of strengths-based case management.
  • Results-oriented with demonstrated ability to work well with people at all levels of the organization. Proven expertise in building and maintaining positive relationships with diverse individuals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and data management systems.
  • Valid drivers license and use of official vehicle may be required. Ability to travel as needed
  • Able to work extended hours if needed and during the Holiday season or times of disaster.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs
  • Bi-lingual preferred

Duties and Responsibilities

*Each location may have duties within the social ministries scope specific to that Corps. Those duties should be typed in a Word document and attached to the signed job description.

Casework

  1. Interview clients and assess needs and resources of clients.
  2. Provide emergency assistance counseling advocacy to clients according to the needs assessed.
  3. Make referrals to area agencies for further services.
  4. Schedule appointments for clientele as needed.
  5. Maintain accurate and confidential daily records of clients including but not limited to forms/files/correspondence/statistical information/ and other records as required.
  6. Recognize spiritual needs of persons which may require referral to the Corps Officers (who are ordained ministers of The Salvation Army).

Program Support

  1. Assist with the implementation and coordination of social ministries programs at Corps
  2. Maintain inventory for feeding program and emergency food pantry including supporting Corps officers in grant and in-kind donation development.
  3. Network with and cultivate collaborative relationships with key personnel at other social service agencies and community-based organizations in the corps area.
  4. Attend community meetings as requested by Corps Officers

Pathway of Hope

  1. Identify and interact with families and individuals to assess their requirements find internal and external social services programs that would assist them assess their most urgent needs appraise the situation and listen to the clients concerns.
  2. Develop a detailed plan of action to address identified root causes and needs of eligible clients set goals and outcomes for said clients and find necessary resources to meet the goals
  3. Establishing and strengthening solid community collaborations with outside agencies and serving as a client advocate enhancing a collaborative relationship to maximize the familys ability to make informed decisions.
  4. Consult with other external agencies to provide support services and resources.
  5. Keep comprehensive records of clients progress throughout the process including every call referral and home visit to track a familys success.
  6. Input accurate and complete data for all contacts with clients into the social ministries database and required data tracking into Service Point database. Participate in required social service counseling and other appropriate TSA trainings.
  7. Stay in touch with clients to ensure the services were beneficial and that their needs are still met after pointing clients in the right direction for services.
  8. Maintain confidentiality respect privacy and preserve the clients routine and independence as much as possible.

Management of Social Ministries Department

  1. Ensure that all social ministries programs are well maintained and in compliance with The Salvation Army and regulatory agency standards.
  2. Submit monthly statistical and funding reports
  3. Collaborate with Corps Officer (s) in seeking/maintaining opportunities for funding for existing programs and all new programmatic efforts.
  4. Represent The Salvation Army and participate in community agency meetings.
  5. Collaborate with the Divisional Social Ministries Director for guidance supportive service and technical assistance.
  6. Effective supervision of staff and volunteer
  7. Remain up to date with all Keep SAfe training as well as manage training for all staff/volunteers who work with the at risk populations
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
