3 months contract with a local authority
Job Purpose
- To hold a caseload of young people open to the service through our Prevention and Diversion pathways. Completing assessments utilising the YJB Prevention and Diversion Assessment tool. Identifying unmet needs and developing child led plans to support young people to move away from offending and reduce risk of exploitation. Utilising both a Child First approach and Trauma Informed approach we are seeking experienced youth justice practitioners who can hit the ground running in this exciting role. To provide occasional court duty officer cover for the service.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Manage a case load of youth justice children from diverse backgrounds and work innovatively with them engaging them and their families and other professionals in order to assess develop and deliver intervention and activities that support their personal and social skills and participation in society.
- Directly contribute to achieving positive youth justice service outcomes linked to KPI s including reducing reoffending reducing FTE s reducing the use of custody and reducing the unnecessary criminalisation of CLA.
Essential Experience Required
- At least two years experience of working with children and their families or adults completing assessments and/or planning and delivering interventions.
- Experience of multi agency working
- Experience of working within a Criminal Justice Setting.
- Experience of working within courts and effectively representing the agency in this forum.
Essential Qualification Required
- Professional qualification in Social Work (Diploma in Social Work BA/BSc/MA in Social Work CQSW as required by Social Work England
- HCPC Registration is essential.
- Evidence of a professional qualification relevant to working with children
Additional information to note
- Working hours: 37 hours per week
- Opportunity for hybrid working.
- Enhanced DBS & barred list check (Child) is required for the role.
- A Full and Clean Driving Licence including the PCV element
