Qualifications include: -MA DESE license in Moderate Special Needs (5-12) required with dual licensure in ELA Math History Biology or Physics preferred -SEI Endorsement required High school teaching experience Experience working with various disability types Knowledge of special education law process and best practices -Knowledge of Chapter 74 vocational programming -Strong organizational and technological skills Responsibilities include: -Teaching small group direct instruction and core inclusion class instruction (depending on licensure) to students in grades 9-12 with varying abilities -Teaching self-advocacy self-determination executive functioning and compensatory strategies to increase student independence and self-reliance in preparation for post-secondary life -Planning curriculum assessment and instruction for special education students that align with IEP goals and objectives -Developing IEPs that align with student disability-related needs and focus on transition skills required for post-secondary life -Promoting high standards and expectations for student progress -Consulting and communicating with other staff to ensure IEP implementation -Completing case management responsibilities (IEPs reports etc.) within legal and district timelines -Evaluating student achievement and conducting educational evaluations along with other informal and formal assessments -Utilizing modern technologies and instructional tools -Attending IEP faculty department and other meetings as required -Participating in activities that promote the best interest of students and the school -Collaboration with departmental and other departmental colleagues on school improvement initiatives integrating best instructional practices and improving student outcomes -Proctoring MCAS administration -Engaging in professional development activities to keep current with best practices in the field as well as keep up with legal process and guidelines -Prepare and deliver instructional lessons with clear and measurable outcomes in accordance with the Districts expectations-Maintain up to date grade books and manage electronic classroom systems/software in accordance with the Districts expectations-Additional duties and relevant responsibilities as assigned by the high school administration. WORK ENVIRONMENT:Work is generally performed in a school environment during the school day however there may be occasions for after school meetings (ex: Back to School Night). WORKDAY:The workday is 7:30 am to 2:40 pm.
