Job Description
POSTION SUMMARY:
Vanderlandes Sr. Manager of Site Management is responsible for the Construction and Site Managers on all Amazon and Parcel installation projects throughout North America.
Responsibilities
Management
- Build competence and increase overall team performance through creating a culture of mutual accountability.
- Create development plans to determine what training coaching mentoring or other stimuli is required to grow current team members to the next level.
- Organize your group as required to safely efficiently and profitably deliver Vanderlande projects in the field.
- Coach and mentor team members towards developing communications skills and client relationships.
- Accountable for the on-site management teams of all Amazon and Parcel projects in NA
- Ensure adequate training for all staff and sub-contractors has been provided.
- Improve installation management systems processes standards and best practices
- Support strategic and installation objectives
- Communicate job expectations; planning monitoring appraising and reviewing job contributions as well implementing corrective action plans
- Improve efficiencies and standardization across the Installation Team with processes and tooling.
- Develop and maintain Staffing plans Progress Tracking file Installation Step Plans Job Safety Plans and Scheduling support Reporting Tools etc.
- Track performance and bench strength of Site Management Team through KPIs and reported to Sr Management on a quarterly basis.
- Conduct routine in-person audits of site management teams to ensure preparation required information and established way-of-working is communicated and in-practice on all sites.
Sub-contracting
- Support the managing of sub-contractors through the project site team
- Support management of sub contracts through Procurement and PM team
- Support our Installation Procurement Manager in finding vetting and communication of subcontractors
- Understand and educate on contract language to the subcontractor and the Construction Management team
- Support project team with contract negotiations and claims
Safety
- Working closely with the VI North American Safety Manager lead the further development of the VI safety culture in the delivery of our projects.
- Find ways to increase quality of service and safety performance.
- Continuously develop and promote a proactive safety culture through best practices of the Site Management teams
Financial
- Develop team members in preparedness to address commercial challenges with their duties including management of change orders risk and compliance when delivering our projects with extra focus on mitigating commercial risk to Vanderlande.
- Accountable to deliver all installation projects on time and within budget.
- Ensure all Installations are carried on in an appropriate cost-effective way
- Reduce overall cost of Installation across Amazon and Parcel
Quality
- Ensure quality control plan is in place prior to the project start
- Ensure the Site Management Team and Installation subcontractors are aware of the expectations and process which are measure and monitored through KPIs
- Responsible for managing the delivery of a high quality installation
Support
- Serve as a trusted and dependable advocate for site management team members in your group to quickly resolve issues including but not limited to the following:
- HR
- Payroll
- Engineering Supply Chain Procurement
- Planning Project Management
- Finance
- Culture
- Work closely with other parts of the VI organization (Engineering Planning Project Management Supply Chain Procurement) to develop mutually beneficial process improvements to improve our performance.
Basic Qualifications;
- Recognized certification with installation trade electrical / mechanical
- In depth knowledge of installation processes
- At least 5 years experience with managing $100M Site Installations Amazon ARS/IXD experience is preferred
- OSHA30 or similar recognized qualification
- Minimum 10 years experience in position of leadership of skilled labor in the delivery of complex material handling projects and systems.
- Minimum 5-7 years in managing remote hourly employees in construction
- Demonstrable experience in growing and developing junior team members.
- Experience serving as on-site representative while building relationships with clients.
- Ability to obtain required security clearances to work in VI project sites
- Support the testing and implementation of new technology or business applications
- Strong knowledge in using Revit Navisworks SharePoint Primavera AutoCAD and Excel
- Ability to adjust and adapt to challenging training and development management style quickly to ensure quick resolution
Preferred Qualifications
- Four-year college degree in technical field
- OSHA Certification
- 10 years working in BHS industry
