Job Description
TRAINING OFFICER - - CUYAHOGA COUNTY GARFIELD HTS.
The State of Ohio is a drug-free workplace which prohibits the use of marijuana (recreational marijuana/non-medical cannabis). Please note this position may be subject to additional restrictions pursuant to the State of Ohio Drug-Free Workplace Policy (HR-39) and as outlined in the posting.
6 courses in human resources education sociology or psychology
-or 18 mos exp in preparing informational or instructional programs; 18 mos trg or 18 mos exp in public speaking or effective communications skills; 3 mos trg or 3 mos exp in operating audio-visual equipment.

All bargaining unit and exempt new hires to ODOT must serve a one-year probationary period.
The selection process for this position will include a structured interview. Candidate responses to the interview questions will be scored and the selection will be made in accordance with the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.
This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.
If this position is filled internally the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the contract.
The final applicant accepted for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to appointment to test for illegal drug use. Medical marijuana is prohibited as a valid medical explanation for a positive drug test. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment per section 3719.01 & 3719.41 of Ohio revised code.
In accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations 382.703 selected applicants for this position are required to register as a driver in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse at the following link:
The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. An individual assessment of an applicants prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
TRAINING OFFICER - - CUYAHOGA COUNTY GARFIELD HTS.
What You Will Do:
- Train employees to obtain their CDL A or B license.
- Training in classroom settings and/or on various sites throughout the district.
- Public speaking (i.e. speaking in front of employees to provide training)
- Train employees to run various pieces of equipment.
- May be required to work various hours to accommodate the districts needs. (i.e. training the night shift)
- Plans schedules & conducts training programs (e.g. schedules employees to attend sessions; schedules teachers to
conduct sessions; prepares materials & teaches sessions; conducts workshops; reviews & revises training materials
coordinates division promotional displays & materials)
