Job Description

Job Title: Psychologist
Location: Correctional Facility in Corcoran California
Pay Rate: $144.64 to $146.64 per hour
Schedule: Full-time 6-month contract with potential for extension


Requirements:

  • Twelve months of experience within the past three years providing direct patient care in a public or private institution
  • Current clinical competencies
  • Valid photo identification (Drivers License or Passport)
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Valid California Psychologist license (hard copy required)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychological services to mentally ill inmates under the supervision of the Senior Psychologist or Chief of Mental Health
  • Supervise inmate conduct and maintain order and safety within the facility
  • Serve as clinician-of-the-day during scheduled shifts and respond to patient emergencies
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote high-quality care
  • Conduct comprehensive initial mental health evaluations including assessment of criminal psychological and substance use histories
  • Provide crisis intervention individual and group psychotherapy and in-cell assessments when necessary
  • Administer score and interpret a range of psychological assessments
  • Develop treatment plans and clinical reports that meet community standards of care
  • Participate in complex case consultations with supervisors and interdisciplinary teams
  • Document all patient interactions and clinical services including Interdisciplinary Treatment Team meetings
  • Monitor progress using SOAPE-formatted progress notes
  • Perform mental status exams during face-to-face evaluations
  • Review previous mental health records and legal documents to support diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Build collaborative relationships with community organizations and service providers
  • Deliver mental health education and support resources for inmates
  • Assist inmates in applying for entitlement programs such as SSI and community-based services
  • Respond to audits and support accurate data entry by administrative staff
  • Provide approved information to relatives or caregivers following proper release procedures
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with inmates and their families
  • Represent the department in meetings and help implement new mental health programs
