As an FPGA Engineer you will be part of the global Programmable Logic team that is part of the Electrical Engineering department. You will work in close collaboration with other Electrical engineers and other functions such as Mechanical Software and Systems engineers. You will focus on designing and verifying FPGA and SoC real-time platforms for Surgical Robotics systems and accessories.
If projects are within your core field of expertise and needed you might represent R&D function as the R&D core team member to work with the core team consisting of Marketing Quality Regulatory Program Management and Operations to make critical decisions regarding projects execution and future product roadmap.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Specification implementation and testing of FPGA-based solutions for robotics advanced vision systems electromechanical control systems sensor designs high speed computing hardware acceleration and real-time communication systems
- Development of verification plans and testbenches for our design solutions leveraging advanced verification methods (e. g. UVM)
- Ensuring a safe secure and reliable product in the field of your expertise
- Ensuring design deliverables align with the Electrical and Software architecture
- Participation in PCBA design reviews systems / subsystems architecture reviews
- Collaboration with the other Hardware Systems DevOps and Software teams
- Finding solutions to make development and verification more efficient and automated and improving quality
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in electrical engineering or related field and at least 4 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge and experience in designing modular FPGA solutions and typical system architectures and design patterns for SoC and embedded processing systems design
- Experience in FPGA development (sound VHDL knowledge FPGA design flow simulation synthesis mapping and timing closure) preferably on Xilinx devices
- Knowledge of most common communication interfaces (e.g. I2C SPI UART USB PCIe)
- Experience with Xilinx FPGA and SoC development flow and associated tools
- Experience with EDA tools (build code coverage static timing analysis source control etc.)
A strong candidate would ideally bring experience in embedded firmware development using C/C including familiarity with BSP/FSBL QNX Embedded Linux or RTOS. A background in PCBA design and the ability to interpret schematics is beneficial along with hands-on knowledge of motors electro-mechanics sensors and low-level control interfaces. Familiarity with real-time communication protocols particularly EtherCAT as well as Verilog/SystemVerilog and verification methodologies like UVM would be advantageous.
