VHIR offers a vacancy/vacant position for a highly motivated Research Technician within the Microbiology Research Group.
The Research Group of Microbiology at Vall dHebron Research Institute (VHIR) focuses on the study of the microbiology aspects involved in the infectious diseases aimed at improving developing basic translational and clinical research that could improve the outcomes of patients with infectious diseases. We work with special interest in studying the mechanisms involved in antimicrobial resistance the sexually transmitted infectious diseases the study of viral and fungal infection in immunocompromised patients the microbial mechanisms involved in pathogenicity microbial epidemiology as well as in the design and evaluation of new molecular infectious disease diagnostic systems.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- University degree and a masters degree.
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
- Proven experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory.
- Expertise on the use of molecular techniques (PCR TMA Sanger and next-generation sequencing) for detection and characterization of human pathogens.
- Experience with automated laboratory equipments.
- Knowledge of manual and automated laboratory techniques.
- Good computer skills especially in MS Office.
- Proactive dynamic and outstanding organizational skills are required.
Desired:
- Experience in working under Quality Management Systems (UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2015).
- Knowledge in database management systems (DBMS): creation maintenance and manipulation using different programs.
Main responsibilities and duties:
- Manipulation of human biological samples under BSL-2 conditions. Maintenance of several sample collections.
- Manage clinical samples and laboratory material.
- Performing experimental assays based on PCR Sanger sequencing and next-generation sequencing.
- Preparation of reagents and maintenance of laboratory stocks and equipment
- Stock control of consumables and reagents.
- Maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Labour conditions:
- Full-time position: 40h/week.
- Starting date: August November 2025
- Gross annual salary: 20.00000 euros (Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale).
- Contract: Temporary.
