South Shore Regional Centre for Education
The South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE) practices the culturally responsive pedagogy approach in providing an inclusive diverse equitable safe and healthy education that supports learning and success both personally and academically to the 59000 residents of Lunenburg and Queens Counties an area of 5250 square kilometres and a total of 23 schools.

Casual Teacher Assistant
The South Shore Regional Centre for Education is currently accepting applications for casual Teacher Assistants interested in working in schools in Lunenburg and Queens Counties.
Candidates must be willing and available to work on a casual basis in one or more of the schools.
Candidates must possess:
- Post secondary training in health or education or a Community College Diploma in Human Services (with an Educational Support concentration) Public School Program Support Assistant (PSPA) certificate FEDS Diploma and/or experience working as a Teacher Assistant.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with students on individualized program and behaviour modification plans.
- Experience working with students with other exceptionalities.
- Knowledge of assistive and supportive technologies.
- Current first aid certification.
- Vulnerable Sector Check/Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Check (clear and completed within the last 3 months).

Rate of Pay: $17.31hr
BACKGROUND/SECURITY CHECKS:
The South Shore Regional Centre for Educationrequires allnewly hiredemployees to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record / Vulnerable SectorCheck and a Nova Scotia Child Abuse Register Check. We will accept checks completed within the last 3 months.
Regional Office based positions require travel and candidates may be required to provide a valid drivers license. Some school based positions also require travel and candidates may be required to provide a valid drivers license.
