Job Description

This position is funded for 10 months; continuation past 10 months will be based on university need performance and/or availability of funding.

POSITION SPECIFICS

The Center for Childhood Obesity Research in the College of Health and Human Development is seeking a Human Research Technologist Health and Medicine position. Under the direction of Dr. Emily Hohman this position is responsible for the coordination of an ongoing research study called I-EAT. The I-EAT project is recruiting 7-10 year olds and their parents to examine how differences in interoception (the process of sensing interpreting and acting on bodily signals like hunger thirst hot cold etc.) contribute to obesity risk in children. Research visits take place on the University Park campus and require evening and weekend hours.

What Youll Do:

  • Recruit screen and consent participants
  • Collect data (in-person) including evening and weekend visits
  • Track participant progress throughout duration of the study
  • Ensure compliance to IRB protocols
  • Schedule and confirm appointments
  • Attend training sessions and facilitate team meetings
  • Coordinate with clinical research center staff
  • Enter and manage data in designated systems
  • Supervise undergraduate research assistants

MINIMUM EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

If filled as Human Research Technologist - Health and Medicine - Intermediate Professional this position requires: Associate Degree 2 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None If filled as Human Research Technologist - Health and Medicine - Professional this position requires: Associate Degree No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education. Required Certifications: None

Skills You Have:

Candidate must demonstrate proficient and comprehensive knowledge of principles practices and procedures related to this position. Key skills include effective communication (written verbal) understanding research rigor and organizational skills. This position requires a high level of self-direction motivation and personal accountability. Ability to collect data with fidelity is crucial.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelors degree preferred. Experience with children and families is preferred.

Schedule:

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

Position requires evening and weekend hours and week-to-week flexibility within a 40-hour work week. Research visits take place on the University Park campus in Noll Laboratory.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check and the National Sex Offender Registry Clearance (NSOR).Additional clearances may be necessary if you resided outside of Pennsylvania in the past five years.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position including all possible grades is $38300.00 - $61000.00.
