Job Description
Our Dunedin-based IT team is growing and on the search for an IT Analyst - Business Intelligence. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved within a global mining company develop your career and work amongst a talented team. If you have experience across Power BI reports and dashboards SQL query development and strong analytical skills we want to hear from you!
This role will involve developing highly effective Power BI reports in collaboration with business stakeholders across a wide range of disciplines such as mine production resource management health and safety performance. Additionally you will use your experience to mentor and coach more junior data specialists across the group.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Consult with internal customers to refine reporting requirements and identify key metrics to be visualised.
- Formally document reports and metrics in the central data catalogue.
- Audit existing dashboards and reports to ensure there is a high degree of quality and consistency across the reporting suite.
- Assist with the ongoing management of the Power BI service including workspace security dataset and gateway configurations.
- Help identify opportunities to improve source system data quality to improve the accuracy of reporting outputs.
- Assist with the development of a data literacy program to promote data maturity across the company.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree or equivalent in IT or related fields.
- Full and Current Driver Licence ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.
Experience
- 3 years of experience in developing enterprise level Power BI reports and dashboards
- Ability to understand and refine business requirements for reporting
- SQL query development for reporting and knowledge of scripting languages such as Python PowerShell R etc
- Experience in working with data warehouse technologies such as Snowflake would be an advantage
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
